Blueberry Muffins

It is Mother's Day and my mum detests blueberry muffins!  I am taking a chance to see if what I bake her today will change her opinion on blueberry muffins forever (or on me!!).  Ten years ago, she was put off by the very dense and tough blueberry muffins served every day by one of the hotels in San Jose.  Beyond that, I have made her try out a few other blueberry muffins from coffee places, hotels and bakeries in Malaysia/Singapore until it is now her last choice of food.  The blueberry muffins we have sampled were either too cake-like, too sweet, too oily, plasticky or dry.

This is the first Blueberry Muffins I made following the recipes of The Bread Bible, by Rose Levy Beranbaum.  They are so good, you won't believe it!

So excited!

This page is dedicated to the recipes from the legendary baking book, The Bread Bible, from Rose Levy Beranbaum.

I have a copy of this book for many years but have not attempted to bake any of the recipes due to the challenges in getting the right ingredient in Malaysia.  Flour, the primary ingredient in making bread, is labelled differently here and some of the mentioned brands like King Arthur's, Pillsbury and Gold Medal cannot be sourced here.

A few days back, when I saw a post in welcoming new bakers to join the one recipe a month Rose's Bread Bible Bakers group, I got excited and decided to put behind all challenges and try out the recipes with all other bakers.  The opportunity to share experiences with bakers from around the world and getting advices from Rose is simply invaluable.

The first project we will be baking this month is the Blueberry Muffins.  Stay tune!
